Five Element Meridian Flow

an embodied journey through the channels, emotions and spirit

As an acupuncturist, I want to take the Five Element theory out of the textbook and into the body. We can understand the meridians intellectually. We can learn which organs, emotions and qualities belong to each element. But real understanding comes when we can feel these within ourselves.

This class is an invitation to move from intellect into embodiment. Why drop into the body?

So much of our experience happens in the mind, always thinking, analysing, anticipating and trying to understand.

But the body is constantly communicating with us and we miss it, it is also a tool for making decisions, plans, answers to difficult questions and we disconnect all the time.

When we slow down enough to notice these sensations, we begin to access a different kind of knowing. The bodies breath changes, the muscles tighten or soften, the chest opens or closes, the belly contracts and we may feel heaviness, warmth, expansion, resistance or ease.

As an acupuncturist, I can help you understand the pathway of a meridian, but more importantly, I can guide you into an experience of it.

The Five Elements

We will explore:

WOOD — Liver & Gallbladder
Spring energy of movement, direction, flexibility and growth.
Exploring the experience of frustration, anger, assertion and the ability to move forward.

FIRE — Heart, Small Intestine, Pericardium & Triple Burner
Summer energy of love, connection, openness and joy.
Exploring relationships, expression, warmth and ablity to give and receive love.

EARTH — Spleen & Stomach
Late Summer energy of grounding, nourishment, digestion and support.
Exploring worry, thought, self care and the feeling of being centred.

METAL — Lung & Large Intestine
Autumn energy of release, boundaries, clarity and reflection.
Exploring grief, letting go, self worth and a connection to ourself and something bigger.

WATER — Kidney & Bladder
Winter energy of stillness, courage, resilience and our reserves.
Exploring fear, trust, rest, wisdom and the instinctive self.

We will work with breath and movement to bring awareness to the channels, then use Yin and stillness to give the body time to listen and respond. The emotions are not something we have to force or manufacture. They may arise naturally through sensation, movement, breath and awareness.

Benefits of Attending

  • Connect with the changing seasons and the qualities of each element throughout the year.

From knowing to feeling

My role is to get you there, out of the thinking mind and into the felt experience of your own body. This is not about memorising the Five Elements, it is about experiencing them. I will teach you the theory and pathways of the channels and guide you into your own body so that you can begin to recognise sensations of the elements. This is where the intellect meets the body.

And this is where the Five Elements can become something more than a system of knowledge — they become a lived experience of body, emotion and spirit.

To understand the Five Elements through your breath, movement, meridians, emotions and body — and to develop a deeper awareness of yourself as you move through the seasons.
