The Second Spring and Menopause Hub

What Is The Second Spring

The law of nature suggests we are born, mature, decline and die. We live in a cycle of springs, summers, autumns and winters and we see these cycles everywhere, in a life cycle, annual, menstrual, daily and even a breath cycle.

We can also apply this to our fertile cycle. We grow into puberty with our first period in the Spring of our teenage years, we then bloom and become pregnant with life in the Summer years of our 20’s and 30’s, the slow decline of hormones in the Autumn of perimenopause in our late 30’s and 40’s and then to finally surrender to Winter in menopause in our late 40’s and early 50’s.

All Is Not Lost

Great news, life doesn’t just end, as menopause arrives. Our youth and fertility transform in this cycle from an outward expression of youthful fertility to our authentic inner expression and a deeper connection with our true nature, creativity and spirituality. We awaken into our Second Spring.

Second Spring

There is hope that after the transformation of menopause we arrive into the Spring of our Elderhood. Forever changed and no longer the fertile youthful maiden, we have the opportunity to awaken the sleeping self to become the wise wild woman. The menopause strips away old habits, attitudes and behaviours that encourage fears or a less than mentality. Menopause can be seen as a privilege and one that allows the soul to thrive if we let it.

The Silent Passage

Our female elders ascertain to the cycle of menopause with statements such as “I feel more like my self when I came out the other side of menopause.” As this sentence suggests, we must go in to come out. We must contract to expand, lean into our yin to yang, surrender into our inner winter to awaken into our second spring.

The problem of this rite of passage for all women is that it has been largely silent. When I first started to become aware of menopausal symptoms last year I was surprised to find that earlier symptoms that proceeded such as palpitations and lack of motivation were precursor to my menopausal symptoms. These happened to me a good five years earlier. As a health professional I was completely shocked that I have been slowly perimenopausing and had absolutely no idea. Why would I, it had never been taught in any of my studies and especially acupuncture. Menopause has been the silent passage for many generations before.

The Menopause Hub

I decided to create the menopause hub on my website to bring all my years of experience and skills into one place to support those who are suffering from the physical and emotional challenges of the menopause transition and bring light and awareness to the rite of passage every woman will experience in their life time.

There is information, practices and services available for all menopausing women in midlife. I have found Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Five Elements offers a holistic perspective of life cycles and the energy of the seasons that live within and an effective natural support for many women who are challenged with symptoms.

You may find reading about the emotional body of menopause is enough for shifting your perspective and creating space for your menopause. Perhaps you may feel the need to take a breath and movement practice such as my online Menopause Restore Class or attending the Inner Seasons Menopause Circle.

You may be feeling out of sorts with menopause symptoms or direction in life and feel called to receive a Face Reading to reconnect to the beating heart of who you are and where you maybe going as well as the root to the menopause symptoms or maybe you are in need of a hands on appointment with a course of five element acupuncture.

Wherever you are in your fertile cycle, know that you do not have to suffer alone and good support awaits for you.
