When You Listen To Your Body Everything Changes
The Bodies Waiting
I found myself feeling really off over the last few weeks, I was tired, grouchy, disconnected, fed up, and a bit meh. I have been working in this world of energy and emotional health for over twenty years, so I should have known what was occurring. Alas I am only human and it took me until last night to attend to some emotional discomfort. As with most emotional discomfort, it became clear I was avoiding a difficult feeling.
What was I resisting, what didn’t I want to accept?
The only way to explore, was to create a comfortable space and tune in and listen to my body. Where do I feel this feeling? I closed my eyes and began the internal scan of my physical body. The chest and more particular the heart, felt tight, tender and sore and a crushing weight on the chest. Yuk, I did not want to feel this, I could already feel squirmy and was starting to think of other things to do with my time.
No, stay with it, it said to myself. And I did. I asked the sensation why is it here? The words arrived as a deep knowing. I am here to grieve, my body shared. Then tears arrived as I cried with deep body shaking sobs. Many sorrows were cried over, recent and old that hadn’t yet been allowed their space for release.
The more I allowed the unpleasant sensations in my body to be present in the here and now, the more I could feel my sadness and let it’s expression flow in that moment in time, the more I felt better. I gave myself five minutes of full tears as I acknowledged the sensations in the chest. After I reground myself and tuned in.
Clarity, I was clear and the uncomfortable heaviness and tender sensations of my chest were gone, instead, a tingling flow, a lightness and sense of expansion. I could breath deeper, I felt lighter and much brighter.
Emotions Are Energy In Motion
I share this as the beautiful reminder that emotions really are energy in motion. Or at least they should be. When they are not expressed then they gather, become stagnant and create physical and emotional blockages, causing us suffering in the body, mind and spirit. My body felt the tiredness, with no energy to do anything, my mind experienced the feelings of being fed up and grouchy which made my spirit long for something to feel good in myself.
Listening Changes Everything
As soon as I gave space to feel my feelings everything changed. My body shifted immediately and gave me the ability to breathe more deeply as we’ll as a sense of expansion and lightness, my mind was clear and my spirit embodied a feeling of brightness.
As I write today, I am clearer, energised and engaged. It’s incredible how powerful our emotions are and how much they may affect our everyday in every way.
Whether you are stuck with a difficult emotion currently or are harbouring old emotions that have not been fully expressed, listening to your body is a powerful way to release and this stuck energy to move through you.
Stuck Emotions Make Menopause Worse
Your menopause is a time of letting go, surrendering and acceptance. When we are stuck with old, repressed or latent emotions, they affect the every part of mind, body and spirit. As your energy wanes we lose the ability to mask and cover our true nature and what we really feel. Not feeling your feelings will create and exacerbate menopausal symptoms.
